CPS #7

I have made 35 versions of this card (well, maybe not 35, but it seems like it...) and taken hundreds (well, maybe not hundreds, but you get my drift) of pictures trying to capture the cool factor of this card, and I am afraid this is as good as it gets. The bottom line is that I LOVE how this turned out, but there is no sun today. None. So, maybe by the end of the week (we are expecting showers) I can offer a better photo of the cards.

From the top: Version one features the images heat embossed in gold powder; version 2 features the images heat embossed in moonglow empossing powder on pearlescent cardstock and we're back to gold on version 3. CPS #6

Click here to view this week's card sketch. This week's sketch was a blast! Using Twinkling H2O's in Cherry Sorbet, Pink Grapefruit, Apple Blossom, Lemongrass, Kiwi and Olive Vine, I colored this super spring image from Hero Arts. After the paints dried, I glued them to the card in this mosaic pattern. The last step was to add a piece of Stampboard using the same stamped image. I colored the background of the board with Distress Ink in Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint and Tattered Rose; stamped the image and painted it with the same H2O's. The final touch was to scratch into the board with the scratch tool to create the white highlights. Krylon pen for the edges.

CPS Sketch #5

To view this week's CPS sketch, click here. For this card, I used Dr. Ph Martin ink to color the background paper. Once dried, I stamped one of my favorite images (Butterfly Collage- Stampourri) in magenta ink and heat embossed the image with clear EP. The card background uses three stamps: justjohanna, All night Media and Stampland, all of which are stamped in different Ranger Distress Inks. Foof-a-la buttons.

The silicon chip inside my head has switched to overdrive..

Do you like that song? You should put it into your iPod. "I Don't Like Monday's" by the Boomtown Rats. Although the reason the song was written is very sad, it is one of those 'stick in your head' weekday songs...maybe it's just my head...........anywho............

Fruit Cocktails

Another 'sketch' card. I made this card using the #3 sketch on CPS. Rubber Stampede and justjohanna images, colored with prismacolor pencils and covered in 3D crystal lacquer. I inked the edges in yellow Colorbox ink and Ranger distress "broken china".

Little Birdy

This is my first attempt with a product called Stampboard- the verdict? Stampboard ROCKS! Cavallini images stamped with Ranger Distress ink in "Antique Linen". On the Stampboard, I colored the background with dye ink and Prismacolor pencils. The best part is carving into the birdy for the highlights!

CPS Sketch- Week 2

On a website I used to visit, there were weekly Creative Team Challenges. I looked forward to the challenges and thought of them as a way to strengthen certain techniques and learn new skills.

Yesterday while blog surfing (blurfing?), I came across a new blog (for FREE) called “Card Positioning Systems”. There is a weekly sketch challenge on this blog, so I decided to try it out.

I have never been comfortable following sketches. For some reason, my brain does not interpret the b&w shapes of a sketch; I don’t easily see the possibilities- at all. I will try the sketch again next week and see if it gets easier.

I worked on this card a long time. Much longer than a card that doesn’t use a sketch. One of the reasons I don’t normally enjoy “sketch cards” is because they all look “cookie cutter”, with sharp lines and harsh transitions amongst the elements used to make the card. In an attempt to avoid said lines, I ‘fringed’ the edges a little. (justjohanna images, Brilliance ink, Dr. Ph Martin paints, sequins.)
