Do you watch Sopranos??

Post your thoughts...

I am so upset. I have never sat through and hour of television in so much suspense in my life! I am going to have to sedate myself for next week!!

(And...if you do not watch, or have not watched, don't read the comments to this post.)

I just reread my post...I am not upset about the episode, I am emotionally upset about the storyline... I have no idea how I am going to make it for one more week!

I'm with YOU! This is killing me having to wait. I cannot believe they killed Bobby. I wonder if Paulie will live? I'm thinking somehow Tony get's killed, but I'm not sure. My fairytale heart hopes he gets away alive and he and his family move away and he gets out of the mob. Yeah, right.

It was probably one of the best episodes since the series began. I was literally on the edge of my seat the entire time. The melt down of the relationship between Tony and Dr. Malfi was unbelievable - perfectly written and incredibly portrayed. I'm thinking that Tony is going to get it next week......but then again....

Bobby? What about Sil? Pauly is hard to understand...is it Sil they say is in a coma??

What does Helen think is going to happen?

She'll have to post her thoughts here herself........

I agree, BBM...I thought about it all last night..kept waking up in the middle of the night to look around too...I was so nervous. They sucked us in excellently!! I am emotional for Sil and Bobby, nervous for Tony...totally into it.

I remember a line in the monologue that said something like "Someone surprising will rise to take charge"...I wish I could remember it all and I can't find the stinkin monologue online... Did they mean Phil? Or is there something else onthe horizon??

Malfi kills Tony Soprano. The entire series is based on the mob/therapy theme. Malfi has just learned that sociopaths feed off therapy and become in the process even worse. Thus Malfi inadvertently through years of counseling Tony has enabled him to become a bigger monster. Certainly as we have seen she is appalled and must feel an overwhelming sense of guilt. Malfi must stop her creation, Tony, by killing him but in doing so she will then become a monster in Tony’s shadow. The ending of which I speculate would be steeped in the irony that has permeated the entire series. One can only hope that Tony is able to take out the no-foreheaded Neanderthal Q-tip, Phil, before he goes. This is the only ending that is satisfactory in my opinion.

Very interesting speculation about Dr. Malfi........that certainly would have us all gasping and jumping out of our chairs. Not sure if she has it in her to go through with it, but after the dinner party she attended, we can see that some people really know how to push her buttons. BTW, did anyone see her on Martha Stewart? She took her office chair, table and a sculpture as mementos of the show. Can you even imagine being a part of that incredible assembly of talent in the cast?

I agree...BBM and I were talking too...isn't it amazing how things were "good" when Johnny Sac was alive and how quickly they turned?

I never thought that agent was working in Anti-terrorism either...he's still working the mob files, for sure.

If Tony is such a bad guy, why does everyone feel compelled to help him out?

I think Phil is gone...I also think Dr. Malfi is gone... we don't know what will happen with AJ either. He is still "there". And Pauly! Is he going to make it through all this?

Have we seen the last of Janice??

Anonymous said...

I haven't seen it because I'm waiting for the DVDs, so I can watch them on my schedule.

However, I've been reading the spoilers.

I was seriously bummed to read about Silvio. I always really liked him.

I think that Janice will go next episode because she's got blood on her hands too.

I wouldn't be surprised if Meadow rises to power.

Ahhh...no Meadow...I am not going with that...I have been reading the blogs and I think: Tony has been in Witness Protection or WILL be scooped up by the feds and his name will be Kevin Finnerty...OR I am wavering on the dream theory OR Tony will go down in a horrible blood bath and Carmella will finally know what he has been doing (Christopher, Adiranna...etc.)

After much - probably too much - consideration, I am leaning towards the "Tony-finally-gets what-he-deserves" theory. Don't we have to ultimately be reminded that crime does not pay? I know that we all got sucked into Tony's character of being a nice bad guy, but we all need to get slapped into reality - he has done such awful things - remember what he did to Christopher? I know that we are all anxious to see what happens. If the final episode is as shocking as this past week, we are in for a good evening of excellent drama.

BBM, absolutely and Tony’s demise would fit the pattern. Before Vito was killed off we were reminded how bad he really is by his murder of an innocent man by the side of the road. Early on a Sunday morning, Silvio surprises Burt Gervasi alone at home, strangles him and then Sil is whacked. Bobby was made to become a newbie hitman before they hit him. Christoper shot his writer friend before Tony suffocated Christopher. Is the brutal murder of Christopher the open door for Tony’s death? As we have seen this is the pattern. A reminder of how evil a person really is and then goodbye.

Rion- Bobby's hit was too far long ago to fit into your analysis..I don't buy it.

OK......two new theories. We keep forgetting about Paulie. Paulie has been very discontent for a while. The name of the final episode is "Made in America". What if Paulie is recruited by Phil and whacks Tony - thus being a "made man" in the NY family. Second, and though very unlikely, but an excellent twist......did anyone notice that the recipe that Tony ripped out of the Departures magazine in Malfi's office was for a Spanish steak? Could it be a foreshadowing that Tony is going to dissapear and move to Spain? Stranger plot twists have happened.....and I would not put it past the creative minds to tease us like that. Will Sunday never get here???? The possibilities for the story line are endless.

Julie Prichard said...

BBM- I like your "Made in America" theory....very clever. I don't know though....could Pauly really kill T? Pauly's already in the flop house. How would he make it out alive??

Rions Run said...

Tony’s recipe is from Departures, Chris played The Departed CD. The speculation is endless.

Christopher pops a CD of Music From The Motion Picture The Departed into the stereo (it's the lead track,) while he and Tony sing Martin Scorsese's praises. Of course creator David Chase has reference Scorsese before, mostly homages to Goodfellas, but this one is far more overt. The Departed plotline of an undercover cop infiltrating the mob is a nod to Tony's (justified) paranoia about Chrissy. It's more then that though, as Scorsese's use of the particular version of the song speaks multitudes in both The Departed and in The Sopranos.

The song itself was a live recording (video) featuring Van Morrison (singing David Gilmour's part) from an all-star re-staging that Roger Waters did of The Wall in 1990 (The Wall: Live in Berlin,) to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall just a few months prior. They setup the stage at Potsdamer Platz, that strip of no mans land between the East and West wall. While cleaning up the area, they found a smorgasbord of Soviet armaments and even a furnished Nazi bunker (not Hitler's as some rumors would have it.) It's this long-buried evil rearing it's head later that is a key to Scorsese's drama, and even more so to Chase's Sopranos, so it's hard not to forgive him for borrowing it.

BBM, good one, now you’ve got me thinking. Would the writers go so far as to play the word ‘made’ against ‘maid’? Thus made or maid in America would be a reference to either Meadow or Adrianna who was last seen or hallucinated in Paris and has now returned to America. They never showed her dead body, just her crawling in the leaves. Either maid could then become ‘made’.

Julie Prichard said...

I think you better let go of Adrianna..I think Sil did the deed.

bigbadmike said...

ATTENTION......ATTENTION......just looked at the TIVO line up and Lorraine Bracco is listed as being in the final episode! Rion, maybe your Dr. Malfi theory is going to pan out after all. Do you think there are odds in Las Vegas on the outcome? Malfi may be the big payoff!

Rions Run said...

BBM, Malfi has been packing heat in her office since being attacked in the parking garage. In addition departure means the act of leaving, a starting out, as on a trip or a new course of action. Shooting T would certainly qualify as a new course of action on Malfi’s part. Do you remember did the recipe promise a fiery pepper taste? A fiery departure could denote either gunfire or burning in hell.

Burning in hell...maybe you two should write a pilot.
