Blog Action Day

Today is "Blog Action Day", a day set aside for the blogging community to raise awareness about the environment. I hope that you take time to read this link and do your part to aid in the awareness.

I made the mixed media canvas above for the event and it is being featured at Maraya Galleries. You can see the other artists who contributed to the cause by clicking here. I am honored to be a part of this exhibition.

With the topic of global warming and energy conservation on everyone's mind, I am disgusted, absolutely disgusted about Jimmy Kimmel's decision to host two shows on two coasts for one week. What an obscene waste to travel to each coast, every day. Did you think he was going to drive his Prius to work that week? What genius thought of this plan? Certainly not Al Gore. Show your support- Down with Regis and Kelly...I don't know anyone who watches Kimmel's namesake in the first place.

Do your part- spread the word about Global Warming today. Thank you!

mixed media collage featuring acrylic paint, rubber stamps, rust, wood, copper wire, and beeswax. available in my etsy shop.

I love your creation today. And the fact that you pulled in the natural elements of sticks and beeswax is very cool. I think I'll do a top ten list about the environment on my blog today. I wanted to do it in ATC form but I just couldn't tap into that side of my brain.

Julie, I love your entry for the Blog Action Day. I can see you put your heart and soul into this one and that the environment is important to you. This entry will inspire others to join in as Heather has indicated.

Hi Julie,. I really like your picture - I have been admiring it today at the gallery and wondering whose it was!

I don't know who Jimmy Kimmel is but it sounds like a really stupid idea. Thank you for this post!

I love the art you contributed for Blog Action Day.

Thank you for taking part in Blog Action Day.

Unfortunately, I did not participate.

However, I wrote a belated post about an environmental issue. As a real estate agent in Minneapolis, I see a lot of people using a product in luxury homes that is very destructive in a number of ways. It may also be contributing to the changes in the environment. Check out this post, please:

Brazilian Teak Hardwood Floors, Slave Labor, and the Destruction of the Rainforest.

You can find this post at:

Anything you can do to share this link or help promote awareness of this issue will be greatly appreciated. Most luxury home owners in Minnesota are unaware of the environmental and human cost of these products. I feel sort of ill every time I walk into a home that has Brazilian teak floors.

Thank you!
