IF Visitor

“Strange is our situation here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to a divine purpose. From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: That we are here for the sake of others...for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy. Many times a day, I realize how much my outer and inner life is built upon the labors of people, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received.” - Einstein

This is the finished 5x7 canvas I previewed on the blog yesterday. Golden acrylics (including a generous helping of Micaceous Iron Oxide), image transfer (my grandfather RIP) and some rayon mesh. A justjohanna scroll image is also in there...but it doesn't show up well in the scan.

Thank you for stopping by today!

This is WONDERFUL! really haunting. I thought about death at the door for IF Visitor, but couldn't make it work the way I wanted. This is great.

Micaceous iron oxide paint seems to keep cropping up in my reading--I think it's a hint that I need some! (Anything's a hint that I need more art supplies:)

A bit eerie, sort of like a haunted house piece. Love those gothic looking letters you used.

Julie, I think this s very painterly piece worth exploring in many ways. As I said before, you do have a great intuitive choice of choosing the right materials, I love the jagged almost hesitant tears on the left. The deep color is very effective too. You got what it takes, girl. Go for it!! I am really impressed by this piece.
